An Old Interpretation to "Follow Me"
Remember Uncle Kracker? No, not your white trash uncle, but the once famous country/rock musician from the early 2000's. He was way ahead of his time when he created his 2001 hit "Follow Me."
Today being Twitter's 4th birthday, I realized what great connotations the song would have if it were still popular today. The lyrics for a refresher:
You don't know how you met me
You don't know why,
You can't turn around and say good-bye
All you know is when I'm with you I make you free
And swim through your veins like a fish in the sea
I'm singing
Follow me, and
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave
I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me
If you're following the right people, following them makes everything alright. And admit it, many of us check Twitter before bed (those your following tuck you in with their thoughts).
Too bad for Uncle Kracker, Twitter wasn't around when he wrote "Follow Me," his song could've been an anthem of some sort.
Can you think of any other songs that can be reinterpreted to have a social or digital media meaning?
